VICTORIA BAY

History

some of THE VICBAY story

Introduction

Victoria Bay, formerly known as Gunter Bay, is a picturesque coastal area located near George in South Africa’s Western Cape. Its name was changed in honor of Queen Victoria, following a report by Captain Allen in 1847, stating its suitability for landing goods. The bay was surveyed by the British Navy, and it was deemed a reliable location for trade. The construction of a railway line connecting George and Knysna was completed in 1928, passing above the bay.

However, the Methodist Church accepted the contribution, believing that life itself is a gamble.
